We bring your dreams to life. When something off-the-shelf just won't do...
Sometimes, projects require a feature or device that simply doesn't exist, or if it does, is lacking in some particular detail, function or is incapable of providing the required level of performance. XTi loves a challenge. The more difficult the problem, the more we shine. Pictured is the custom subwoofer cluster we built for Gorg-o-mish, an afterhours bar in Vancouver. It has 16 Bag End 18" woofers. There are 24 more in other areas, for a total of 40 18" woofers! The system also features 8 14" Dolby Professional/SLS High-Mid cabinets with 7" Ribbon Drivers. Everything is powered by 40,000 watts of Powersoft Digital Amplification. In a testament to the design / build quality of the system, in 13 years of operation, we have never lost even a single subwoofer driver. (as opposed to Graceland, where we had to re-cone all the woofers every 6 months). XTi is one of the few, if not the only A/V contractor in Canada that has it's own in-house fabrication facilities, including Electronic, Woodwork, and Machine Shops. XTi's Wood Shop has table saws; routers; drill presses; and a multitude of hand tools. The Machine Shop has a full size (3500 lb.) Bridgeport Style Knee Mill; a heavy duty mill; several lathes; 15 & 20 Ton Hydraulic Presses; Cold Saw; Abrasive Chop Saw; Sandblasting Cabinet; tons of machine tooling; and various sizes and grades of wood and metal stock for projects. |
The XTicy Gymnasium ClusterWe were brought in to design, supply, and install a complete audio/video/ communications & control system for a local high school. Part of the project was to supply rugged, high quality sound systems for two gymnasiums.
Gymnasiums are notoriously difficult acoustic spaces. When is the last time you heard (and understood) high quality sound in a gym? I'm guessing never. Many companies have tried many approaches over the years - with mediocre results in most cases. XTi decided to apply the lessons we have learned over nearly 40 years in this industry to come up with a solution to this problem. The result of our efforts is what we refer to as the XTicy Gymnasium Cluster. The XTicy Cluster consists of 6 high power 8" coaxial drivers arranged in a custom hexagonal enclosure, with an integrated 1000 watt 21" subwoofer. The system uses electronic crossovers, and features Bag End INFRA signal processing for the subwoofer, ensuring flat response from 20 Hz to 20kHz. Each 300 watt 8" driver has a coaxially mounted 75 watt, 1" compression driver. The entire system weighs about 250 lbs, and is mounted in the centre of the gym under the main supporting trusses. Grilles are 11g steel, and are basketball proof. The sound quality can be compared to the best nightclubs, and features perfectly even coverage regardless of the listening position. Whether you are standing in a corner, sitting on the bleachers, or standing directly under the cluster, speech is highly intelligible, and music sounds incredible. Can we build one for you? |
